Neighbors wary of Evans Spring plan

A commercial-residential development is being considered for the area near Valley View mall.
The idea of turning a stretch of northwest Roanoke fields and woods into a mix of houses and commercial buildings is making neighbors of the Evans Spring area nervous.Several, joined by advocates for open spaces from elsewhere in the city, on this past Thursday asked the Roanoke Planning Commission and city officials to rethink a proposed conceptual plan for the roughly 130-acre area, which is privately owned.
