LYNCHBURG’S 2nd ANNUAL CANSTRUCTION EVENT SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 29
Canstruction Lynchburg will host its second annual construction competition titled, “Build Day,” on Saturday, March 29, in downtown Lynchburg.
The theme this year is, “Superheroes: Defeating Hunger One Can At A Time.”During the event, participants will collect canned foods at various venues and compete to produce creative and unique artwork sculptures. Once the “canstructures” are complete, they will remain on display from March 31 until April 4.
Last year, the event netted over 19,000 pounds of food for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank—enough to provide more than 16,000 meals to those in need.
Experience is not required because each team will be mentored by an engineer, architect or contractor. To form or mentor a build team, help sponsor the event or request exhibit information, e-mail CanstructionLynchburg@gmail.com to contact a local committee member.
Canstruction Lynchburg was started as an experiential learning initiative of the Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lynchburg program. It is now a nationally recognized charity that creatively raises food, funds and awareness to help people struggling with hunger. For more information, visit canstruction.org.
