Continuing Education Symposium: Equity in Planning

AIA Blue Ridge is proud to present our signature continuing education symposium for 2019: Equity in Planning – Person, Community, City. Earn up to 7 CEU/HSW, lunch and closing keynote included in the ticket.

DATE // 20 SEPT 2019, 8am – 5pm
LOCATION // Charter Hall, Roanoke, VA

Equity matters for everyone. Though “equity” and “equality” are frequently used interchangeably, they do not mean the same thing. Equality has an end goal of sameness, while equity provides fair and just access to the resources necessary to succeed for all people regardless of socioeconomic, racial, or ethnic grouping.

Equity is crucial to design and to the future of the architectural profession. Speakers will discuss equitable design strategies at the building, community, and city scales. They will also explore how increasing diversity within the profession leads to more innovative design and to increased public awareness of the value that architects and allied professionals bring to the table.
