"RRMM and Salem City Schools developed the project to increase the existing classroom capacity by 60% with the proposed north and southeast classroom additions. These new additions will bring a balanced approach to introduce daylight... New classroom settings will promote learning through collaboration and contain classroom glass-walled “pods” which allow for small group study, student mentoring and independent testing.
Though many of the classrooms of the second floor will be preserved, strategic HVAC upgrades will improve climate control for the existing classrooms... The school’s main façade will contain two new additions... The existing library in the middle of the school will be relocated to the new front addition providing better community access [and a] secure, brick-fenced courtyard will induce a connection between the two additions while maintaining enclosed safety for outdoor dining and gatherings." - description provided by RRMM
